Shakespeare's Globe on Tour at Storrs Hall: 17th - 19th August 2011

Storrs Hall offers an extraordinary setting on the shores of Lake Windermere for a very special event as part of the Shakespeare's Globe national tour. There are three early evening performances this summer beginning Wednesday 17th August 2011.

'As You Like It'

Rosalind, the daughter of a banished duke, falls in love with Orlando at a wrestling match, but her usurping uncle, jealous of her popularity, banishes her from court. Disguised as a boy she seeks out her father and his friends in the Forest of Arden. Here she meets Orlando again and, under the guise of a young man, counsels him in the art of love.

Performed at the Globe and on an Elizabethan-style stage, a small troupe of travelling players breathes new life into this firm favourite among Shakespeare’s comedies, which runs the glorious gamut of pastoral romance: cross-dressing and love-notes; poetry and brilliant conversation; gentle satire, slapstick and passion.

• 17.30 - Start of Buffet inside hotel, for ticket holders. Table sharing.
• 17.30 - Start serving the Snacks Package, served outside and consumed outside, pre-orders only.
• 18.00 - Grounds open for non-package ticket holders (tickets only).
• 19.30 - Start performance.
• Interval and afterwards, bar open (and weather permitting outside).
• Hot and cold drinks available in the grounds, as well as ice cream, hot and cold snacks.

• 14.00 - Cream Tea served in the hotel, till 15.00.
• 17.00 - Grounds open for hotel guests - ticket holder. Guests can arrange their seating.
• 17.30 - Buffet in hotel, table sharing (upto tables of 8).
• 19.15 - Make way outside.
• 19.30 - Start performance.
• Interval and afterwards, bar open (and weather permitting outside).
